USEFUL POEMS & USELESS PHOTOGRAPHS
LIFELONG LEARNING - POETRY & PHOTOGRAPHY
Do you feel uneasy with words, while images are your strength?
When you try to think, what emerges is an image—how do you translate that into text?
Do you wish to respond to someone with an image, but fear the words that must accompany it?
What does a blurry photo say? A “shaky” one? A “cropped” face? A close-up?
Sometimes, a photograph—even seemingly useless or accidental—may show nothing, yet speak volumes…
Words that have lost their meaning are like a photograph with faded colors.
Confused thoughts resemble blurred, shaky images.
A close-up of a cut-off face feels like an unfinished thought…
In this workshop, old and new photographs reflect upon and meet old and new poems.
Together, we’ll discover that meaning can emerge where we least expect it—between verses,
where images take their rightful place. Images take initiative: they become the questions and the answers.
At times, they even allow words to rest upon them.
Images write over words, and words over images.
What matters is breaking through the core of meaning and capturing your sense of it—clearly and effectively.
Image and text don’t undermine one another.
The word gives strength to the image, and the image elevates the word.
It’s enough to know how to read—and how to see.
This is not just another creative writing or photography workshop.
We aim to build, together with you, a dynamic new pathway of communication—
a path open to each and every one of us—through the power of poetry and photography.
