Creation of the digital data hub www.roma-gen.gr for Roma women

The digital data hub www.roma-gen.gr is a valuable and user-friendly platform designed for any public or private institution, researcher, or citizen who, like us, seeks to engage with issues concerning the Roma population.

We place particular emphasis on the situation of Roma women. Through the implementation of a mixed project — scientific, artistic, and educational — titled “From Daughter to Mother Roma: May the Road Be (More) Long and (More) Proud”, we came to deeply understand the scale of inequality and exclusion these women face.

In this first phase, the platform hosts the outcomes of our scientific research on Roma women, along with materials from our artistic and educational workshops.

At the same time, it archives data and documentation related to Roma communities in Greece, such as research reports, scientific studies, bibliographies, and media coverage.

In the future, the digital hub will be able to host data and metadata centered around the concepts and processes involving the Roma daughter and the Roma mother — focusing on the daughter’s journey toward forming an autonomous self in constant interaction with her mother.

The digital hub was designed, developed, and is maintained by ART·IN·ART, and is:

· Under the auspices and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture,
· With additional financial support from the Bank of Greece,
· Under the auspices of ELLAN PASSE (Panhellenic Confederation of Greek Roma).

Its ongoing operation has been funded for the next two years by Mellon Technologies.
